Linger in the memories that mean the most
The magic of childhood lives in a cosy lamp-lit bedroom room, their cool cheek resting on a soft pillow, while little fingers dreamily twist loose strands of hair. Peaceful memories like these light up my universe, and drawing children, with a warm, naturalistic and uniquely parental gaze has become my life’s work and greatest love. Every one of my portraits is handmade and composed to feel like a bedtime-story. I want it to wrap you in a blanket of nostalgia, and become a haven you can retreat into forever.

Meet the artist
Amanda Bathory-Griffiths
Amanda grew up in Malvern with her parents and brother. At school, she quickly realised she loved art, and painted in bright, rich colours, using gouache.
After 6th form, she attended Cheltenham Art College where she specialised in drawing and mark making. For university, she moved to Wales, and studied for a year at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, before moving to the Cardiff School of Art and Design, where she graduated with a BA(hons) in Fine Art.
She launched Project Pontcanna in 2012, a series of suburban illustrations that celebrated the people and independent businesses of Cardiff, which led to many exhibitions and personalised artworks of family homes, pets and children.
Now she sketches by the sea from her home studio near Cowbridge, in Wales. She has two little children of her own, who changed how she saw the world. In observing them, and longing to preserve as many of the day-to-day memories as she could, her artistic style was born.
